It was early, but the smell of coffee was already in the air.
I woke up around five am, eager to start the day. And so did the cats. They all followed me, like a race, I have to be careful because they run down the stairs so fast, sometimes one passes right in between my legs – so balance is everything.
As I am preparing their food, and my Italian press, I look outside. Snow! Gentle, kind, delicate snow. My favorite. Funny how when I let my senses do all the talking, the sight of snow brings me pure delight. Well, it did. But a few seconds later my mind had to come in and mention the fact that it is April 26th, and no, snow is not supposed to be knocking on my door.
But snow is knocking on my door, and swirling around the trees, and staying on the ground for all to see. I smile, it is okay, and it is a peaceful sight. My cat Mando and I are looking outside together, focused on the falling snow, we see squirrels running around the trees, birds flying from tree to tree, calm is King, and beauty is Queen.
Can we choose the weather? No, we can’t choose the weather. But we can enjoy it, accept that time and the seasons are not always what we expect that they will be. And truth is, it won’t last long. This too shall pass, and I bet that the sun will come out this afternoon.
